Intro
Hi there,
My name is Brian, and I’m a software engineer living in the bay area. At this point in my life, I’ve gotten really interested in road biking. Up until coronavirus put the bay area into quarantine, I’ve been trying to compete in more bike races. So far, I’ve participated in two races where I’ve placed in the top 1/3, but more importantly, I’ve learned a lot about the mechanics of the sport. Hopefully I can cover that in a future piece.
I also recently launched a side project roadbikes.fyi with two of my friends, Jeff and Nathan. I’m really happy with how our launched product turned out, but a lot happened along the way to get there. This is something I’d also like to cover in a future piece.
I’ve also been brewing what’s now a lot of kombucha. Mainly because it’s so expensive in grocery stores and because I’m having a lot of fun growing my bacteria cultures. For what it’s worth, one of my coworkers actually made a pre-order on my kombucha. Hopefully I can fulfill it post-COVID. Fun project, but I’ll probably just post some pictures.
Lastly, the biggest thing on my mind lately is what’s next in my career. I’m really inspired by the people I know who are going down the entrepreurial path, and I’ve decided for myself that that’s something I want to also pursue. To get there, I’ve made a few initiatives for myself:
- Practice lots of coding. This is my competitive advantage and skill that I want to leverage if I build a startup.
- Meet others. This is to broaden my perspective and hopefully build a network of diverse folks I can reach out to in the future.
- Read. I used to never read, but that’s changed for me post-college as I’ve realized that I can learn a lot from books and essays in a relatively short period of time.
- Brainstorm ideas. This has been the hardest as I haven’t picked up enough much motivation to start. My current plan is to block out some time every week to jot down some ideas and drill into them.
Anyhow, that’s it for now. Thanks for getting this far into my first post :)
